Amazon Prime Day 2017: The Best Space Deals to Watch

Prime Day’s discounted prices will appear at different times for different items, so please note those times on the items below. Amazon does not reveal how much the item will be discounted until the assigned time. The deals are only available to people with an Amazon Prime account. Prime costs $99.00 per year, but users can try it free for 30 days . Celestron SkyMaster DX 8×56 binoculars:  These medium-size binoculars are on sale for $144.57. That’s 28% off their normal price of $200.28 on Amazon! The deal expires at 12:45 p.m. EDT (1645 GMT) or when it is 100% claimed. The Celestron SkyMaster 8×56 binoculars for both stargazing, as well as daytime outdoor activities like birding, boating or even watching your favorite sports team from the bleachers. The binoculars are on sale for $14.99, 32% off its regular price of $22 on Amazon. The deal expires at about 4 p.m. EDT (2000 GMT).

Luwint 8 X 21 Kids Binoculars.  This is another set of beginners’ binoculars for observing night-sky objects, such as the surface of the moon. The binoculars are on sale for $12.79, which is 29% off its regular price of $17.99.  The deal started at 10:45 a.m. EDT (14:45 GMT).

Doctor Who TARDIS 16GB USB Memory Stick Key Chain.  You may not be able to travel through time and space like The Doctor, but you can carry your data in style with this awesome TARDIS 16 gigabyte USB memory stick keychain, which is on sale for $14.99 – that’s 40% off the normal $24.99 price! The deal started at 7:40 a.m. EDT (1140 GMT).

Sold Out: Celestron EclipSmart 10×25 Solar Binoculars.  If you’re planning on seeing the total solar eclipse on Aug. 21  (or just the partial solar eclipse that will be visible from a much wider area on the same day), this may be the perfect time to take advantage of a Prime Day deal on a pair of Celestron eclipse binoculars. They are currently priced at $34.95 on Amazon. The deal, for $27.26 (saving 22%), is sold out.

These binoculars come with nonremovable solar filters that meet the ISO standard set by NASA, the American Astronomical Society and two professional optometry organizations. You can use them during a partial eclipse to watch the moon progress across the face of the sun, but they can also be used at other times to observe bright prominences and sunspots.

Because the solar filters are nonremovable, these binoculars will not be useful during totality, when the sun is completely blocked by the moon (the disk of the sun is the only thing that should be visible through solar filters). But most eclipse experts recommend that you enjoy totality with the naked eye.

Sold Out: The Formic War Trilogy.  If you or your scifi fan loved “Ender’s Game,” then this prequel trilogy of the First Formic War by Card and Aaron Johnston is a must grab for your summer reading. The trilogy of “Earth Unaware,” “Earth Afire” and “Earth Awakens” is on sale for $14.92 (down from $18.74) until about 4 a.m. EDT Tuesday. chronicles the devastating alien war 100 years before the events of “Ender’s Game.” 

Sold Out: Star Wars Armada: Victory-Class Star Destroyer Expansion Pack.  This imperial ship is part of the “Star Wars: Armada” miniatures game. It is on sale for $18.18, down from $32.19 on Amazon. The deal started at 9. p.m. EDT tonight and is already sold out.

Sold Out:Estes 1948 Big Bertha Flying Model Rocket Kit.  Model rocket fans should scoop up this Estes level 1 kit. The rocket reaches a maximum projected altitude of 500 feet (152 meters). It is on sale for $14.76. That’s 25% off its normal $18.69 on Amazon.
