In Spirit of 'Star Trek,' Hubble Explores Ancient Galaxy Cluster | Video

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was used to observe galaxy cluster Abell S1063, as it was 4 billion years ago. The phenomenon of ‘gravitational lensing’ seen in the image is created by the cluster’s huge mass and reveals light from galaxies far beyond it. The spirit of ‘Star Trek’ is apparent with HST’s handlers, comprised of a  ‘diverse crew [that] work together to peacefully explore the Universe,” according to the European Space Agency.
