The star SAO 244567 has been studied for over 45 years. According to European Southern Observatory,  “between 1971 and 2002 the surface temperature of the star skyrocketed by almost 40 000 degrees Celsius.” It has started to cool again and expand according to new observations by the Hubble Space Telescope.
